In Monday's lunch General Session on June 13, Academy Award-winning actor Richard Dreyfuss praised the work of fraud examiners like Harry Markopolos and gave attendees an inside look into his portrayal of Wall Street fraudster Bernie Madoff.

David Barboza, investigative journalist for The New York Times, shared his story of exposing corruption at the highest levels of the Chinese government in Tuesday's lunch General Session. 

During Tuesday morning's General Session, Body Language Expert Steve van Aperen gave attendees quick-hitting tips for detecting lies and deception.

At this morning's General Session, ACFE VP and Program Director Bruce Dorris, J.D., CFE, CPA, CVA, presented awards for the ACFE Chapter of the Year, ACFE Chapter Website of the Year, Educator of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Outreach/Community Service and the Certified Fraud Examiner of the Year.

Along with a bagpipe procession and a presentation of colors, the 27th Annual ACFE Global Fraud Conference opened with a video welcoming more than 3,000 anti-fraud professionals from all over the world.

U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff, this year's winner of the Cressey Award, said the real winners of the honor should be the members of the ACFE because they root out fraud to an unprecedented degree. Rakoff shared his past experience and thoughts of the future of presiding over white-collar criminal cases during the Opening Session at the ACFE Global Fraud Conference, June 13.
