Each year, this honor is given to an individual who has courageously exposed wrongdoing in business or government, often at great personal and professional risk. The ACFE is proud to present the 2025 Sentinel Award to Tom Devine, legal director at the Government Accountability Project.

Sarah Carver and Jennifer Griffith met as paralegals in a private practice law firm in 2000 and joined the Social Security Administration (SSA) in 2001. During their tenure at the SSA, they exposed a massive fraud scheme of more than $550 million. As a result, they say they experienced severe retaliation, were denied protection and ultimately lost their jobs.
